Lifeguard International Inc. is a medical ambulance service in operation since 1980, providing transport for critical & non-critical care patients. Lifeguard International Inc. saw a 56% increase in its customer base in the first year of private ownership and bought its first aircraft. Over the next 20 years, Lifeguard has continued this positive growth with a small fleet of aircraft that include a Cessna 421, two King Air aircraft, two Lear Jets and a Citation Bravo Jet.
Lifeguard Transportation Service, Inc. began its full service ground operations in New Orleans, Louisiana in November of 1998 and in January of 2001 Lifeguard added its second full service transport company in Birmingham, Alabama. In January 2002 Lifeguard proudly welcomed its third ground operation to Pensacola, Florida. In February 2003 Lifeguard greeted a fourth service in Dallas, Texas and we proudly opened our 5th ground ambulance operation in Nashville, Tennessee in April 2004.
In January 2006 we acquired Medic One Ambulance Service which had operations in Nashville, Knoxville & Chattanooga, Tennessee & assimilate their operations into the Lifeguard team. 2006 also saw the opening of Lifeguard’s newest operation in Atlanta, Georgia; these 2006 additions almost doubled Lifeguards operation site size, employees and customer base. In 2008, Lifeguard began operations in Mobile, AL. At every location Lifeguard continually strives to give our clients exceptional customer service partnered with compassionate patient care.

Together the Lifeguard companies operate 6 aircraft and 125 ground vehicles with offices located across the Southeast United States and in Costa Rica. Our team members consist of over 700+ medical and non-medical personnel – pilots, aircraft and vehicle mechanics, EMTs, paramedics, respiratory therapists, registered nurses, physicians, administration, and billing staff.
In Costa Rica we provide emergency and non-emergency medical services in Cobano, Santa Teresa, Jaco and San Jose.  Each location is staffed with a physician, a paramedic and various administrative staff that are on hand to help with medical consultations and minor procedures such as sutures, EKG and glucose testing.  Our ambulances are equipped with immobilization equipment, oxygen, emergency medication, cardiac monitor and defibrillator.  We are always ready and prepared to transport all types of patients with various medical needs.
At our clinics you will find personnel from 8am to 5pm. If you require medical assistance after hours, you can reach us through our emergency call center which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.  We provide house and hotel visits in all surrounding areas of our locations. Lifeguard Costa Rica gladly accepts international insurances and facilitates in contacting insurance companies for verification of coverage.  We provide transports through ground or air ambulances to main hospitals around the country.
Lifeguard Costa Rica also provides on-site medical services to various construction projects around Costa Rica.  Our past and current projects include providing services to hydroelectric power plants, hotel construction sites, and wind turbine sites.
